McClellan Elementary PTA

The PTA's recent Chipotle fundraiser rasied about $400! A HUGE thanks to everyone who headed out to get some great-tasting food while supporting McClellan Elementary in the process.

In honor of Read Across America Week, the PTA sponsored a book swap night on Wednesday, March 1. Dozens of McClellan families showed up to trade in their gently used books, and grab a few different ones in exchange. Special thanks to Pleasant Hills Library's Children's Librarian, Mrs. Dani, who kicked off the night discussing the upcoming, and ongoing, programs at the library. Another thanks extended to Mrs. Gilchrist who helped organize the exchange, and all the parents kind enough to staff the evening event.

Thanks to all of your contributions, the PTA was able to purchase a new water fountain for McClellan Elementary! Students often bring water bottles to school and the new fountain allows them to be filled more efficiently. In addition, it cuts down on the spread of germs. A special thanks to Mr. Tomer for installing the new fixture.

The PTA will continue to collect BoxTops every month through the rest of the school year. The homeroom who submits the most valid BoxTops each month wins a prize. Mrs. Burke's class, who tied with Ms. Recktenwald's in December, enjoyed an opportunity to "Silly String the Principal!" 

McClellan Elementary is again part of the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart Program. The event will be held during physcial education class on Feb. 6, 7, and 8. Children who participate will learn about the importance of the heart, raise money for those affected by congenital heart defects, and feel good for doing good. 

Information packets and donation envelopes were sent home recently, giving more detail and the prize giveaway levels. The deadline for returning donation envelopes is Feb. 6, 2017.
